Q: Who is it intended for?

It is intended for anyone who have studied Place Value, and operations with natural numbers. It should be studied only after those two topics have been mastered since Integers include the natural (counting) numbers.

Q: What is unique about your book compared to other books about Integers?

It is the only one of its kind! Other curricula and books devote few pages to it and consider it done. As a result students are left without real understanding of Integers. This results in problems in Arithmetic and Algebra (and later in Calculus) but those problems are not recognized as stemming from lack of understanding of Integers.

This book also provides multiple explanations of what Integers are, how Integers and Natural numbers are related, what is the meaning of operations with Integers (example: what does it mean to multiply two negatives?) including exponents and roots, and of course, all the techniques and methods to solve all sorts of exercises with Integers.

Q: Aren't Integers just like natural numbers?

The short answer is: No! The long answer is in the book...

Q: At what age it should be studied?

TI recommend studying it not later than 4th or 5th grade, depending on mastery of operations with natural numbers. However, it can possibly be studied at 3rd grade but at a slower pace. All students above 5th grade should study it, even if they have studied some of it at school. Students who have problems with Algebra should first study Integers (and probably the Place Value book as well) to make sure they have solid knowledge of it.
